As the long days of summer continue, we pray you’ve had time to rest and reconnect — with loved ones, with creation, and most importantly, with God. August invites us into a quieter rhythm, where seeds planted in spring and nurtured through summer begin to show signs of fruit. It is a time to reflect on patience, hope, and the gift of perseverance. Due to the ongoing construction at Loretto Abbey we will be returning to Manresa for many masses this month.
A Season of Hope and Steadfast Prayer
August reminds us that the spiritual life is often a long journey. Like the gradual ripening of fruit in the fields, God’s grace sometimes unfolds slowly, hidden and silent — yet always active. We are invited to trust in His timing and to remain faithful in prayer, even when answers are delayed. As the days grow shorter, may we grow stronger in trust.
Our Saint of the Month: Saint Monica (Feast Day: August 27)
This month, we draw inspiration from Saint Monica, the patron saint of mothers and a model of persistent prayer. For years, Monica prayed with tears and unwavering faith for the conversion of her son, Augustine — who would become one of the Church’s greatest saints. Her story reminds us that no prayer is wasted, no loved one is beyond God’s reach, and no tear goes unnoticed. “Nothing is far from God.” – Saint Monica
Let us ask her intercession for all who are waiting in hope — for their children, their spouses, their families. The prayer to St. Monica can be found HERE.
With Every Blessing
Thank you for being part of our prayerful community. Your support helps share the comfort of the Mass with those who need it most — the sick, the homebound, and all who seek hope.
May the Blessed Mother and Saint Monica accompany you this month with peace, strength, and hope.
In Christ,
Deacon Mike Walsh
