May: the Month of Mary

“Blessed is she who believed that there would be a fulfillment of what was spoken to her by the Lord.” Luke 1.45

As we welcome the month of May, we enter a time in the Church that is rich in devotion and grace. May is traditionally dedicated to Mary, our Blessed Mother, who leads us gently to her Son. In honoring Mary, we are reminded of her deep faith, her trust in God’s plan, and her constant presence with us as a loving mother and intercessor.

Throughout this month, we are invited to draw closer to Mary through prayer, especially the Rosary. In her quiet “yes,” she shows us how to live with humility, courage, and openness to God’s will. May we turn to her in our needs, trusting that she brings our prayers to Jesus with tender care.

O Blessed Virgin Mary,
Mother of God
we come before you with trust and devotion.
Full of grace, you welcomed God’s will with a faithful heart.
Teach us to say “yes” in our own lives,
to trust in God’s plan,
and to walk in humility and love.

O Mother of mercy,
look kindly upon us in our needs.
Comfort us in sorrow,
strengthen us in weakness,
and guide us along the path of holiness.
Wrap us in your gentle care,
and lead us always closer to your Son, Jesus,
that we may live in His peace
and share in His joy.
O Mary, our refuge and our hope,
pray for us now and always. Amen.
